LOS ANGELES – (March 17, 2022) – The Kingdom of the Netherlands has appointed Mr. Reinout Oerlemans – chairman and chief creator officer of media company 3BMG – the new honorary consul in Los Angeles. He will represent the Kingdom of the Netherlands in official capacities, connecting Dutch and American businesses and strengthening the deep economic ties and friendship between the two countries even further. Oerlemans succeeds architect Jan van Tilburg, who has been honorary consul for 12 years.

Dutch honorary consuls represent the Netherlands in places that do not have an embassy or consulate general. In his role, Oerlemans will work with businesses to facilitate discussion on such topics as sustainability, urban mobility and enhancement of creative industries. He will also provide consular support for Dutch nationals in emergency situations.

“I am honored to represent the Dutch government here in Los Angeles, and to connect the Netherlands, where I was born, with LA, the place I call my home,” he said. “I am looking forward to supporting Dutch nationals, businesses and cultural institutions that want to build a strong partnership with Los Angeles. Together, we can create opportunities and synergies and find solutions for global challenges. I’m looking forward to my new role as honorary consul and to collaborating with all participants in these endeavors.”
