Holland’s best Digital Health startups that are looking to expand in the US on Monday kicked off a week full of matchmaking, company visits, events and a special appearance at HxRefactored, Health 2.0’s Boston Conference. The program starts in Boston and will continue in New York, with the main purpose to introduce Dutch startups into the digital health market on the East Coast.
During five intensive days, participants will work on improving patient experiences through a smart combination of health tech and design. The bootcamp will focus on recalibrating the traditional “health journey.” Highlights of the program include visits to Cambridge Innovation Center, MIT, Harvard, Startup Health, IBM Watson and Blueprint Health.
The participants include startups Bruxlab, Cognilab, Global Wearables Devices, Pacmed, LeQuest and Quantib. Also healthcare facility Philadelphia Zorg, investor Noaber and agency Orange branding are present during the bootcamp.
About the participants
Bruxlab is active in digital health and is focusing on the sleep disorder bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching). Cognilab delivers a powerful, secure, web accessible software platform for cognitive and clinical researchers. GW Devices is a distributed global entity with an ECO system on the design, engineering and manufacturing of Wearables and IOT devices based on a total solution approach. The tool Pacmed provides general practitioners with the expected outcomes of different treatments, based on the analysis of enormous amounts of anonymous health data.
LeQuest aims to maximize the positive effects of medical technology on patient safety and efficiency in hospitals. They train and certifying healthcare professionals to use different medical devices safely and efficiently. Quantib is a spin-off from Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. They specialize in high-tech software solutions to aid radiologists in the early detection and therapeutic follow-up of various diseases. Philadelphia Zorg is a healthcare facility with national coverage. They manage about 600 small-scale sites in the Netherlands.
Noaber Ventures is the impact investment arm of The Noaber Foundation. The Noaber Foundation is a family foundation stimulating and financing initiatives with a societal impact. Agency Orange Branding is a Dutch branding and design agency with offices in Europe and Asia. Besides consultancy for international clients, Orange Branding focuses on developing sustainable brands and start-ups with clients and investors to develop online and offline B2C/B2B channels.
About the participating partners
The Holland Innovation Network supports high-tech startups, companies, and universities that want to make contact with universities, financiers, and corporations in the US.
The Healthcare Innovation Transfer (HIT) initiative wants to initiate and facilitate cooperation between leaders from the Dutch healthcare system and technological pioneers from the US: “Coming to America” and “Testbed the Netherlands.”
Rockstart has launched a digital health accelerator for international digital health startups. Their goal is to help them build their product and prepare them for their international expansion.
The Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York supports startups with a soft landing in New York and Boston. The consulate organizes bootcamps and other events, and maintains an active mentor network.
