In September we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. On September 25, 2015, all 193 UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda, with 17 Sustainable Development Goals that address the challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.

Exactly five years after the launch of the SDGs, on September 25, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its missions abroad, including the Netherlands Embassy in the United States, will hoist SDG flags. Ambassador André Haspels and Dieuwertje Toereppel, second secretary of the embassy’s Political Affairs department, will hoist the SDG flag at the embassy in Washington, D.C., on September 25.

The hoisting can be watched on that day from 11 a.m. EDT on the embassy’s Facebook page.
