A delegation of tech businesses and officials from the Netherlands will visit Seattle, home to one of the leading tech clusters in the world, June 21-22 to build a collaboration between Dutch technology startups and technology businesses.

Special Envoy for StartupDelta Prince Constantijn

Prince Constantijn van Oranje will lead the collaboration initiative. As the Dutch envoy for StartupDelta, an organization that promotes the strength of the Netherlands tech startup scene, Prince Constantijn’s mission is to help connect and accelerate the Dutch ecosystem so that those companies wishing to grow in the US have support in Seattle. He also is a member of the EU High Level Group on Innovation advising the EU on how to generate breakthrough innovation.

The Dutch delegation will meet with executives at both Amazon and Microsoft and launch the Dutch Startup Mentor Network in Seattle.

“With major tech companies and hundreds of startups around them, Seattle is the perfect landing spot for Dutch startups,” says Gerbert Kunst, Consul General of the Netherlands in San Francisco. “But startups sometimes need help. First, to see the benefits of launching from Seattle, and then to understand how to tap into the network and ongoing support Seattle offers. That’s why we’re here.”

Exploring opportunities

Prince Constantijn will meet the technology giants Microsoft and Amazon to explore opportunities, and meet with Seattle-based Dutch entrepreneurs and Dutch employees within technology companies.

With Seattle’s active startup scene and its recognition as the center of some of the world’s largest tech companies, building a tighter startup ecosystem that accelerates expansion into the US is a priority for StartupDelta and Prince Constantijn.

The Netherlands is considered one of the most digital and innovative countries in Europe. World Economic Forum recognized the Netherlands as an icon of digital transformation, and the Dutch population as “one of the most technological savvy and connected in the world.”

Startup Mentor Network Seattle

The Startup Mentor Network Seattle will be launched to foster continued collaboration, training and mentoring for Dutch startups. It is initiated by the Dutch Consulate General in San Francisco, and will consist of Seattle-based entrepreneurs from the Netherlands and Dutch executives at companies, such as Microsoft and Amazon.

The Dutch consulate in San Francisco helps entrepreneurs navigate their way in hot spots of technological innovation on the West Coast. It also helps American businesses find their way to the Netherlands.
