Europe’s biggest commercial urban farm will soon be on the green rooftop of the De Schilde building in the Hague.

Vegetables will soon grow in a 1,200-square-meter greenhouse on the top of the multi-story urban farming center, called Urban Farming De Schilde.

The urban farm is a joint project between UrbanFarmers, a private investor, the Municipality of The Hague, and the Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting Nederlandse Gemeenten, and subsidized by the European Union. With total investments of €2.6 million, De Schilde will become the largest commercial urban food production farm in Europe.
